Welcome to Lafeber's Wings Of Compassion
Chris Davis, author of Heart to Heart column in Bird Talk magazine, and her husband, Dr. Ted Lafeber, CEO Of Lafeber Company, both have lost animals that were very close companions. We believe it is important to honor those animal companions that have held such a special and sacred place in our heart. This connection is often stronger than we have had with most of the people in our lives. Non-animal people do not understand this, and that is OK. This web site is for animal people who have deeply loved the animals in their lives.
Chris and Ted understand that grieving a lost companion is a difficult process. Honoring our beloved animal(s) that have passed is important. It reminds us and our friends how special our companion was, it allows others to comfort us in our grief, and it allows us to more gracefully move through the grief process.
Death Sucks. Not an elegant statement. It is grounded in truth. If you have loved deeply, you will have deep heartfelt pain when the loved one departs.
Our beloved animal companions transition easily to the other side, and are healed in the process. Unfortunately, we are left with part of our heart missing. We feel the pains that wake us in the morning, the pain in each moment of the day, and the pains that follow us to bed. In time, this pain will release, if we allow it.
Remember to Breathe. Breathe in deeply and breathe out the pain. Once we have felt the pain, we do not need to keep it. With periodic deep breathing, our healing can happen more quickly. A healed heart does not mean you still don't miss your companion. It just means you have healed your heart so that you can continue to strongly love those that are still here and those that have passed.
Create a Memorial. Once we are breathing again, the process of creating a memorial helps us heal. Just lighting candles for our beloved is a very powerful healing. For centuries, candles have offered us hope, strong remembrance, and a connection to those on the other side.
Chris and Ted freely provide this web site through Lafeber Company. It is our way of honoring and thanking Baby Doll, Beau and all of animals that have deeply touched all of our hearts.
