Dr. Ted Lafeber
Dr. Lafeber grew up in his father's bird and animal veterinary hospital. He has spent most of his life caring for birds and developing nutritionally sound foods for birds. In 1988, Dr. Lafeber graduated from Iowa State Veterinary College and began working full time at Lafeber Company. By 1989, Dr. Lafeber and Dr. Lafeber Sr. decided that they enjoyed working together and they became partners. That same year, they co-invented Nutri-berries, which has become an essential part of excellent avian nutrition. Dr. Lafeber and Dr. Lafeber Sr. remained steadfast friends and partners until Dr. Lafeber's passing in 2001.
In 1998, Dr. Lafeber became romantically involved with Chris Davis, an internationally recognized avian behavioral consultant, and they have happily been together ever since. Little did Chris know that her long time Greenwing macaw buddy, Beau, would become Dr. Lafeber's constant home and office companion. Each morning by 8:30 am, Beau would yell if he was not in Dr. Lafeber's office working with him. Unfortunately for Dr. Lafeber, this included Saturdays and Sundays.
Beau passed away on Christmas Eve 2005. Beau's passing broke Chris' and Dr. Lafeber's hearts and led to the creation of LafeberCares.com
